BBM and CASA Host Technical Training on Rhizobium Biofertilizer for Jimma and Buno Bedele Zones

Biosafe Biofertilizer Manufacturing (BBM), in collaboration with its partner CASA, conducted a comprehensive technical training program focused on the application of Rhizobium biofertilizer for legume crops, with a special emphasis on enhancing soybean cultivation in key agricultural zones.

The two-day training event was held in Jimma City. On May 31, 2025, the program hosted agricultural office leaders and input representatives from nine key soybean-producing woredas in the Jimma Zone: Kersa, Limu Kosa, Limu Seka, Omo Nada, Seka Chekorsa, Sokoru, Chora Botor, Gumay, and Nedigibe. The following day, June 1, 2025, a similar session was delivered to leaders from selected woredas in the Buno Bedele Zone, including Bedele, Borecha, Gechi,Chewaka, Dabo Hana, and Didessa.

The training, led by BBM Manager Mr. Tamrat Cherenet, focused on the types of biofertilizers, their significant benefits, and detailed theoretical and practical application methods. BBM’s biofertilizer is specifically designed for legume crops—such as faba bean, haricot bean, chickpea, lentil, and soybean—and can replace up to 80% of chemical urea fertilizer consumption. This initiative supports farmers in reducing costs and adopting more sustainable agricultural practices.

The participation of woreda-level soil fertility experts and agricultural input representatives from both zones was crucial for ensuring the successful dissemination of this vital technology.
